The main sources of odor complaints of a hog factory are the hogpen and exhaust of composting facility. This factory had run into the odour trouble from the local residents and even administrative guidance, however, they had difficult to find the priority between each target facility and the measures to be taken due to the large scale of the facility.

Answer

We sampled odors at all pig farm facilities and measured the odor concentration using the odor concentration measurement method established by the Japanese government. It turned out that the measures were required for the odors of both the hogpen and the composting facility.

We arranged a hygienic environment of the hogpen and used Microgel deodorant to control decay and fermentation caused by bacteria as the measures against the odor inside the hogpen, and also considered the measures with sulfuric acid scrubber against the exhaust of the composting facility.

Since it was a huge facility, we first performed a demo test of each machine. While providing explanations to the local residents, we are currently working with the customer to solve the complaints.

Analysis

Microgel deodorant has obtained 96.6% deodorizing efficiency in the hogpen.Since the odor of the piggery is an odor generated by bacteria, the odor concentration increases as the bacteria grow. Therefore, it is necessary to spray the microgel deodorant on a regular basis.  

It is possible to adjust the deodorizing efficiency by adjusting the spray amount and dilution ratio of the microgel deodorant in order to obtain the optimum running cost.

Providing the best Microgel deodorant

In the livestock industry such as pig farming, the cause of odor generation is bacteria. The odor generated by bacteria is a sulfur compound odor or a nitrogen compound odor. 

Sulfur compound-based odors and Nitrogen compound odor are originally odor components that the human sense of smell easily reacts to, so these odors can easily lead to complaints from local residents.We can develop and sell a special Microgel deodorant according to the odor component. Of course, we can also do odor surveys to solve the current odor problem.

Lastly

The vision of the Overseas Market Development Department is to regain the normal life of all humankind. The richer the economy, the more factory-made products around us. The factory emits odors in the process of making products. Some of the odors are good and some are bad. Most of the time, it’s a bad smell.

Currently, Japan is said to be an economically prosperous country. The reason why we are able to maintain affluence is that we have people manufacture things around us in other countries where the manufacturing cost is low.

The odor that comes out in the process of manufacturing things is the same in countries with low manufacturing costs. In the process of manufacturing the products around us, we can imagine the faces of people from other countries who suffer from stench. I feel a little guilty about those people.

We would be happy if we could use our 30 years of know-how to make the faces of people who are troubled by the stench smile and return to life when there was no odor.
